Frequently Asked Questions: Cook & Bake Junior
Where are the events held?
All of our events are held at "The Leen" a traditional farmhouse in North Herefordshire close to the village of Pembridge. The postal address is The Leen, Pembridge, Leominster, Herefordshire, HR6 9HN- satnavs should bring you to the door but signs will show the turning in from The Leen lane.
How many children can join?
We can accommodate up to 8 children at a Cook & Bake Junior event. We keep the numbers low to ensure we can closely supervise the children.
What age does my child need to be to attend Junior Cook & Bake cookery sessions?
We have set the age at 8-13 years old as we feel any younger children would not be able to achieve some of the skills we would like to show them. We want the children to be safe in the kitchen and so feel this age range will be more risk aware.
What is included in the price?
The price includes everything the child will need to complete the class. We will provide snacks and drinks during the session. There will be a recipe pack to take home and some of the foods that have been made (this will depend on the class completed).
How do I book and pay for an event?
Please call (07989 978319) or email Sarah Norman email@example.com; you will then be sent a confirmation email and booking form, upon receipt of the booking form and deposit your booking will be made. Payment can be made via BACs or cheque and the balance on the day can be taken by card also.
What if I book but then my child can’t make the day?
We’ll do our best to re-book on another event or you can send someone in your place (do let us know this is happening as we will need a completed booking form for that child). If neither of these options work then you will lose your deposit. If you need to cancel on the day we would appreciate payment of the balance.
We regret we cannot refund deposits for confirmed bookings, but you can transfer to another class if you request it at least 14 days before the original date. If you can’t attend a booked class you’re welcome to send someone else in your place.
My child has been sick - can they still come along to an event?
If your child has been suffering from diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the last 48 hours they should not join a class. You should contact us to discuss the option of another child coming along or re-booking to another class.
Covid 19 Protocols
Prior to each course we will review how it is run to reflect the latest Government on hygiene, social distancing and other measures to prevent transmission. We will keep windows and doors open (so make sure your child dresses up warmly).
Before joining a class all attendees (or their guardian) will be asked to confirm they have not had the onset of any COVID-19 symptoms or knowingly been in contact (or lives in a household) with anyone displaying symptoms or someone who has tested +ve or someone who has been asked to self isolate within the previous 14 days. Whilst we recognise this approach may be more onerous than government restrictions on self isolation , especially for the fully vaccinated, we ask that no one comes to a demo if they are unable to satisfy these conditions.
How will I know the events going ahead?
Unless you hear from us then please assume the event is going ahead. If we do have to cancel within 48 hours due to an exceptional event e.g. natural or unavoidable catastrophes we will contact you to explain the circumstances and discuss the options for re-booking or if you prefer to have your deposit refunded.
What's your cancellation policy?
If we do have to cancel an event for whatever reason we bear no liability for any other costs you may have incurred.
Does my child need to bring anything?
No just their enthusiasm for cooking and baking.
What should my child wear?
We will provide aprons but we ask that your child is suitably dressed for cooking e.g. flat closed shoes, avoid trailing sleeves and long hair tied back.
Do you cater for special dietary needs?
Do contact us to discuss the options before you book - it may not be possible to accommodate all requests.
My child has an allergy - shall I tell you?
Yes yes yes. You must tell us in advance as our preparation and events are in kitchens where Food Standards Agency listed allergens are stored and used so we are unable to guarantee there has been no cross contamination.
My child has a medical condition - shall I tell you?
Yes please if it's something we should be aware of and/or your child is bringing any medicine with them e.g. asthma inhaler.
Do you offer bespoke days?
Do contact us if you have a group who would like to do a cookery class outside of our advertised dates.
Do you have a safeguarding policy
